Tower Petroleum Playtest v2025-11-19-1
Heroes' Abilities, New Cards, New Enemies, Camera Zoom
Today we have published our biggest upgrade for the Tower Petroleum Playtest yet – as always our Playtest is publicly open, so you would automatically get access to the game when you click the "Join the Playtest" button here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3232480/Tower_Petroleum/
We are proud (pun intended) to present you...
Heroes' Abilities
Hero cards now have activatable abilities:

These abilities are activated by the player, have a cooldown, and recharge only when a wave is active. Once the ability is fully charged, click the hero's portrait with left mouse button and it will activate:

Click the portrait with the right mouse button and the hero's turret would be selected
Camera Zoom
We've listened to your feedback and have implemented the camera zoom feature. Zoom in/out with a mouse wheel, move camera by holding the right mouse button and dragging the mouse.
New Cards
We've added 10 new cards to the roster, resulting in 39 distinct cards already available. We've also added new type of the ability cards: now there are abilities that are applied to a specific turret, not to the whole gameplay area.
- Extend the number the modules you can insert in the turret;
- Strategically plan your progression by playing a card, that would make all turrets deal additional damage the next wave;
- Dismantle a turret and get petroleum of it;
- Augment your turret with petroleum booster and make it deal the more damage the more petroleum you have in the bank;
- And many more.
Play by yourself and see what this upgrade brings you.
New Drafting Logic
We are improving the "cards" component of our game, so we've revamped the card drafting logic a bit. Now you are guaranteed to have at least 3 cards in the beginning of any wave. Don't wait – play your cards now.
UI and UX Updates
We've worked on the various UI elements, trying to make the vast amount of detailed information more readable. The authors are pretty hardcore gamers, and we want our game to be playable in Excel – just fill in the numbers and find the best combinations. We provide you with necessary information to accomplish that.
The card details are now automatically shown when you hover mouse over the card. If you don't like this behavior and want the "old" way, where you have to explicitly click a button, – you can turn this back on in the options.
New Boss, New Enemies
In addition to our old friend Horrifier, who slows down turrets as he passes by them, we now have the second boss: Pipadaer. This guy would stop and spawn new enemies as he traverses the map and rush towards the top once he's spawned all his children.
And the new "regular" enemies, but with some special behavior:
- Rusher would temporarily rush towards the end once he loses a certain amount of health.
- Berserker would rage and move faster the less health he has.
- Leaper would jump over the obstacles and turns.
All our abominations have 3 armor types, so plan your turrets' layout wisely!
Other Notable Changes
- Vasia has redrawn all enemies, towers and turrets. Making our game approx. 83% more beautiful according to our science-backed research.
- Costa has rebalanced the game many-many times, so new challenges await. Beware the game is still pretty demanding, so if you've feeling uncomfortable with the difficulty curve -- feel free to create a profile with Normal difficulty to test your strategies.
- We've also worked on the game window management, so the borderless and windowed modes should work much better now. The game would also better support non 16x9 displays.
- And – of course – various bugs have been fixed.
Final Words
We would LOVE to hear your feedback, literally anything you have to say. Drop your comments here, fill-in the short questionnaire, join our Discord – glad to hear from you in any media.
